Christopher Pearson, 35

Senior Vice President, Davenport & Co.

Both of Chris Pearson’s parents came from humble beginnings yet went on to build successful careers. “They showed me the importance of giving back and caring for others,” he says. “Because I was given the opportunity to go to great schools, I want to use my great launch to make good on them and share that with others.”

A point of honor for Pearson is having been chosen as one of the youngest members ever selected for Davenport’s Investment Policy Committee, the internal brain trust that makes investment decisions for three of five Davenport funds. The other two funds are managed solely by Pearson and a co-manager, a fact that isn’t lost on him.

“Davenport allows young people like me to shoulder responsibilities and get experience to contribute to the success of the firm,” he says, acknowledging how his mentors at Davenport have helped shape him. “It’s an accomplishment to be associated with these people.”

Although he refers to his wife and 2-year-old daughter as the driving inspiration in his life, donating his time is how he feels most impactful in the community. Whether organizing fundraisers for the National Kidney Foundation — his mother’s father died from kidney disease when she was a child — reading to students at Carver Elementary School, being a lunch buddy at St. Andrew’s School or taking young people from the Youth Life Foundation of Richmond to a Squirrels’ game, Pearson strives to be a positive force and a role model in the community.
