Chris Milk Hulburt should’ve invented gold leaf as much as he uses it in his paintings, which are pretty whimsical. Like pages from a children’s book that’s kind of demented, with rocket packs and the occasional penis. His last show at the Eric Schindler Gallery was about flying, all motion and propellers, and this one, “Tiny Cups of Clarity,” seems to lean more toward stationary things: telephone poles, trees, people in chairs. Something maybe from a children’s book for the contemplative Zen child — who digs the gold leaf, of course. “Tiny Cups of Clarity” opens with a reception Friday, Nov. 17, 7-9 p.m. Through Dec. 22. 2305 E. Broad St. 644-5005. S
