Chain and the Gang and the Ar-Kaics at Black Iris Music

Feb. 24

Ian Svenonius is famous for being infamous. The Washington-based singer, musician, DJ, author, television host and philosopher is an underground legend for many reasons, but first and foremost he’s one of the most riveting showmen of his generation. Through the years, I’ve seen Svenonius perform in his various musical incarnations and he always delivers the sweaty goods. Equal parts James Brown, Nick Cave and Vladimir Mayakovsky, he’s a throbbing, twitching sex machine blessed with the rare ability to transfix an audience. Svenonius brings his latest group of garage soul assassins Chain and the Gang to Black Iris Music for a show Tuesday, Feb. 24. Opening is local psychotic reactions the Ar-Kaics, whose latest self-titled, full-length release is a stripped-down thing of beauty. Doors open at 7 p.m. Admission is $6-$10. blackiris.tv.
