Pop the cork on this one. Downtown Presents sponsors the city’s favorite salute to the weekend with the 15th anniversary season of Friday Cheers. This free concert series takes place Fridays, 6-9:30 p.m. at Nina F. Abady Festival Park near the Coliseum. Proceeds benefit local non-profit groups. 643-2826.

Also in its 15th year, the Jumpin’ series continues bloomin’ Thursdays in the Sculpture Garden of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Gates open at 6 p.m.; live music jams 6:30-9 p.m. Advance tickets available June 3 at the museum. Season tickets for all 10 concerts, $70. WRVA’s Tim Timberlake emcees the 20th season of the GE Financial Assurance concert series. The concerts are free and open to the public. All but the July 2 concert take place on Tuesdays. All performances begin at 7 p.m. and last about two hours. Held on the lawn in front of GE Financial Assurance headquarters, 6604 W. Broad St.

In celebration of Chesterfield County’s 250th anniversary, a new concert series gets underway at Pocahontas State Park’s Heritage Amphitheater. Performances range from free events to $5. Easter Seals Virginia has a new location for its 16-week lineup for the 1999 Concerts in Central Park. This year they will take place near the intersection of Central Park Boulevard and Carl D. Silver Parkway — diagonally across from last year’s site. Concerts sound off on Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. $4 adults; $1 children ages 6-12. “Any 10” passes available at the gate for $25. 746-1007.
