Carytown’s Mantu Expands To Short Pump

Chef Noori opens Mantu Express in Short Pump.

Chef Hamid Noori  of The Mantu in Carytown is expanding once again with a fast and casual version of that spot which is called the Mantu Express, located at 11636 W. Broad St.

Noori’s food has had a presence in Richmond for nearly a decade. The Mantu, named after the traditional Afghan dumplings that the restaurant serves, opened in 2019 followed by the opening of the Mantu Market in 2022, a bakery, deli, and grocery which offers grab-and-go options, as well as a dine-in space, along with stocking hard-to-find items like Afghan grains and dried fruits.

In March 2024, Noori took over Two Guys Pizza in Short Pump, and was operating under that name until the Mantu Express opened. For fans of the Carytown location, diners will see familiar favorites at the Mantu Express along with new dishes.

The restaurant’s concept features a create-your-own-plate with your choice of chicken, beef, lamb, and vegetarian options. “While retaining the renowned pizza and subs, we are adding and introducing a modern Afghan cuisine infused with Mediterranean flavors and options along with a delectable selection of smoothies and ice cream,” says Noori.

“Through the years, I’ve been overjoyed to have the support of the Richmond dining community,” Noori adds. “And I now invite them to join us in the next step.”
