Carytown Watermelon Festival

Much like the titular fruit from which it takes its name, Richmond's annual Watermelon Festival has spent many years gestating from a tiny seed in the city's collective stomach, growing into the largest one-day festival in Virginia. With attendees surely to find satisfaction biting into a piece of the liquid-filled fruit during a summer when temperatures are consistently spiking into the triple digits, the Carytown event is scheduled to feature a full day of musical acts, vendors and a small amusement park for kids in the Cary Court Shopping Center.
