For two decades, Cary Street Café has been Richmond’s home for all things hippie. Hundreds of musicians have filled its small confines with acoustic and electrified sounds rooted in the counterculture movement of the ’60s. On Friday, Feb. 6, the little club that’s kept the spirit of Jerry Garcia alive for 20 years celebrates its history with an epic love-in. The night features the unveiling of a specialty brew, Going Down the Road Feeling Brown, made for the occasion by Northern Virginia brewing company Smartmouth Brewing, and the fire-on-the-mountain sounds of Grateful Dead cover band, King Solomon’s Marbles. As with all things that turn on, tune in and drop out, you don’t know what kind of surprises await, but rest assured it will be a raucous party. The festivities commence at 4 p.m., and as with almost every show they put on down there at Uncle John’s cabin, admission is free. carystreetcafe.com.
