If you hope it’s the former but you’re worried that it might be the latter, “A Season for Miracles” is just what Santa ordered for us all.

A “Hallmark Hall of Fame” presentation airing on CBS Sunday, Dec. 12, from 9 to 11 p.m., “A Season for Miracles” has an angel, a love story, a couple of miracles and even a little town called Bethlehem.

And don’t be surprised if you find yourself reaching for a Kleenex or two. It’s that kind of delightful, tug-at-your-heart drama — the kind that almost makes you believe that good things really do happen to good people.

Emilie Thompson and her niece and nephew, Alanna and J.T., are on the run. The children’s mother, Emilie’s sister, is locked up in a drug rehab hospital, and Social Services wants to put the kids in a foster home. Emilie is determined that won’t happen, but she’s short on resources — no job, just $60 in her pocket, and an old car that’s worth more as scrap metal than it’s worth as transportation. So she piles the kids in the old clunker and starts driving. Just as they’re about out of gas, Emilie spots a highway sign: Bethlehem — 12 miles.

That’s where they meet the first angel. And that’s where miracles — of the everyday kind, involving good-hearted people — start to happen.
