Everybody always carries on about the three wise men and their awesome gifts to the newborn Messiah (like myrrh is even in this season). But nobody ever mentions the poor little girl who, not having anything to give, plucks up some weeds that, when delivered, bloom the bright red leaves of the poinsettia. Well, nobody but the Latin Americans, for whom “The Legend of the Poinsettia” is a holiday staple. And who ever thinks that maybe the nativity scene was the site of some of the finest dancing to come out of the future nations of Mexico, Brazil and Spain? The Latin Ballet of Virginia figured all this out, and comes bearing gifts: the cumbia, the aguinaldo, the rumba flamenca — all, like the poinsettia, from the heart. The show comes to the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen Jan. 5-6 at 8 p.m. and Jan. 6-7 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15-$20. 379-2555. S
