Butcher Brown, Kings and Sam Reed at the Camel

Tuesday, May 5

Though most people don’t realize it, one of the funkiest places to be on the planet right now is Richmond, Virginia. At the heart of this resurrection among the world’s largest collection of second-place trophies is Jellowstone Records. The label, recording studio and talent factory is bursting at the seams with groove-based releases. On Tuesday, May 5, three of the label’s dance-floor champions — Butcher Brown, Kings and Sam Reed — bring the funk to the Camel. The Stax-Volt-styled review is a release party for vocalist Reed’s irresistible debut Jellowstone album, “This Is Love.” Soulful, sexy and seductive, Reed’s numerous talents are enhanced and enabled by the Jellowstone inclusive party aesthetic that allows her gifts to shine. If you go to only one show this week, this is the one not to miss. Doors open at 8 p.m. Admission is $7. thecamel.org.
