Sept. 9 “Change We Can Believe In: Barack Obama's Plan to Renew America's Promise” by Barack Obama (Crown Publishing, $13.95). Only presidential candidates are allowed to refer to themselves in the third person, as in this book outlining Obama's vision for America.


Sept. 9 “Fine Just the Way It Is: Wyoming Stories 3” by Annie Proulx (Simon & Schuster, $25). Proulx revisits the rugged west of Brokeback Mountain to further examine and mythologize the lives of the cowboys and the (wo)men who love them.


Sept. 16 “Indignation” by Philip Roth (Houghton Mifflin, $26). In his 29th book, Roth travels to the '50's, the Korean War and the terrible impact of fear on the mind of an impressionable young man.

Sept. 23 “A Bold Fresh Piece of Humanity: A Memoir” by Bill O'Reilly (Broadway Books, $26). At long last O'Reilly offers the public insight into how, why and when exactly he became public nuisance No. 1.


Sept. 23 “Letter to My Daughter” by Maya Angelou (Random House, $25). Written to a daughter she never had, Angelou's newest collection of essays and poetry could serve as a guide for any woman struggling to find her way.


Sept. 30 “Hounded to Death: A Novel” by Rita Mae Brown (Random House, $25). The seventh in Brown's series of fox-hunting murder mysteries, “Hounded” details the harrowing woes of veterinarians, pet-food manufacturers and the folks behind the Virginia Hound Show.


Oct. 7 “Called Out of Darkness: A Spiritual Confession” by Anne Rice (Knopf, $24). Rice's follow-up memoir to “Christ the Lord” details her transgression from atheism and vampires with a shocking return to Catholicism.


Nov. 4 “Divine Justice” by David Baldacci (Grand Central Publishing, $27.99). Virginia's favorite bestselling golden boy returns with another page-turning legal thriller.
