They may not be pretty, but the foul shots that will be tossed at half-time of the Dec. 21 basketball game between the VCU Rams and the VMI Keydets will really count for something.
That night, some of Richmond’s biggest names will gather at center court of the VCU Siegel Center to raise money for the MCV Foundation for Brain Tumor Research. Mayor Tim Kaine, City Manager Calvin Jamison, Police Chief Jerry Oliver, Schools Superintendent Albert Williams, Commander Josiah Bunting of VMI and WRNL Sports Radio’s Big Al are among the dignitaries who will put their dignity on the line (the foul line, that is). For every foul shot they sink, they will raise $100 for the MCV Foundation. The spectators can get into the action too by pledging 50 cents for each shot made.
Lt. Gov. John Hager and UR football announcer Ray Tate will co-host the event.
Tickets to the game are $15. For ticket information, call
