Second Place: Catherine Ham
Third Place: Alex Glaser, Coldwell Banker
Childress and his team sold 228 houses and racked up $72 million in sales last year. That makes the Childress Group the top-selling group not only at Long and Foster but also among 4,000 agents in Richmond. Childress, 39, gives a lot of credit to his team of specialists — buyers’ agent, listing agent, closing specialist, etc. Such teamwork frees people to do what they do best, Childress says. In his case, that would be “selling, prospecting, networking.” Ham cut her teeth in the toughest real estate market in memory, she says, becoming a Realtor just before the Great Recession. Those years, she says, together with excellent Keller Williams training, taught her a fundamental lesson of success: “Everything is an opportunity.” Alex Glaser has teamed up full time with his wife, Lauren, and attributes their success to being “100 percent honest, 100 percent of the time.” No magic formula exists to selling real estate, he says: “All it is is hard work and running your business like a business, not a hobby.”
