With convenient access from various points on both sides of the river, it’s easy to reach Richmond’s natural showplace. But civilization quickly fades away as earthen pathways and trails and wooden footbridges take the serious or casual hiker along the same routes experienced by Native Americans centuries ago. You’ll regularly come upon other folks out for a walk. But the atmosphere is usually friendly and users are respectful of the environment.
