Second Place: “Elliot in the Morning,” XL102
Third Place: “Bill Bevins & Shelly Perkins”, Star 100.9
If you think the on-air banter between “103.7 Mornings” co-hosts Melissa Chase and Jack Lauterback gets a little naughty, you should hear them when the mic is off. “Nothing is off limits. We should probably put limits on it, because some of the stuff that we say off air … I can’t even,” writes Lauterback, also a Style contributor. As for his on-air partner, he says, “It’s almost like having a sister … that’s your boss.” For Chase, the best part of the show is using its power for good. They’ve given money to local families to buy Christmas gifts, helped a single Chesterfield mom raise funds for an autism therapy dog for her child, bought instruments for schools suffering from cuts in music education funding and underwrote breast-cancer screenings. Airing on XL102, Elliot Segal, host of the often bawdy, Washington-based “Elliot in the Morning,” is a guilty morning pleasure for many Richmonders. And Bill Bevins and Shelly Perkins have longtime fans. After their 13-year stint on Lite 98, they’ve been co-hosts on what’s now Star 100.9 since 2014.
