Second place: Mary Angela’s Pizzeria
Third place: Frank’s
Honorable mention: Zorch Pizza

Let’s face facts, it wouldn’t be a Style Weekly Best-Of issue if Bottoms Up Pizza didn’t make it into the top three. This year, it’s sitting pretty in first place by serving up longtime classics such as the Karen Combo – spinach, ricotta, Italian sausage and onions – despite the name Karen having become a pejorative term online. Name aside, the pizza rocks.

According to manager Nick Lewis, that’s why Bottoms Up Pizza has been so popular since it opened: “Our pizza is different from everyone else’s,” he says. “No one does what we do.”

Bottoms Up continues to operate at 50% capacity inside and out, even during Phase III, to ensure that tables are placed a safe distance apart. Staff wears gloves and masks, while chairs, tables, doorways and bathrooms are sanitized with a solution that kills germs in 60 seconds. A motion-sensor hand sanitizer station sits near the front door.

“We’ve been here since 1990 and we’ve made it through floods and recessions,” Lewis says. “What’s a pandemic going to do to us?”
