Third Place: CinéBistro at Stony Point Fashion Park

The beloved Westhampton didn’t get enough sympathy votes to place, but at least Richmond’s historic and majestic theater the Byrd registers as a favorite. The community theater has had some upgrades to its projectors but is still on that long haul journey to new seats — which is all its board members ever hear about. Looks like voters agree with USA Today that the Byrd is “one of the top 10 places to see a movie in splendor in the United States.” Movieland at Boulevard Square has a prime spot near the ever-growing Scott’s Addition. It brings Hollywood tent-pole franchises but can also handle former Westhampton patrons who want to see films that don’t insult their intelligence or play to their basest desires for eye candy. The 21-and-older CinéBistro at Stony Point Fashion Park has the largest, most comfy seats of any theater in the metro area — plus, you can order pitchers of beer! And food! Did we mention you could get pitchers of beer during your movie?
