Ellwood Thompson’s, a perennial favorite for Richmonders seeking local, organic products, is finding success with prepared food, arts and music events. On May 25 from 5-8 p.m., the store will hold an art exhibit and sale featuring works by employees. And Friday evenings, musicians perform in the Beet, which serves beer and wine. “That’s a big part of who we are, making connections,” director of operations Bart Yablonsky says. “It’s all about the food, and prepared food is a big part of our business. Beer and wine certainly helps.” The store also takes its food to local breweries, a program the management hopes to expand. Yablonsky wasn’t ready yet to spill details, but says to expect some big announcements in coming weeks.
