After 24 years in Carytown, Mongrel co-owners Stan McCulloch and Mark Burkett work to keep their beloved gift store as full of surprises as the day it opened. “Every time I come in, there’s something new,” McCulloch says. “It’s constantly changing.” What hasn’t changed, he says, are the store’s loyal customers and a mission to offer stuff you never knew you needed. Right now, that includes coffee mugs emblazoned with Richmond neighborhood names and a set of tinder dubbed Campfire Cologne. Next to Short Pump Town Center, Tweed offers a large selection that includes home décor and clothing. Orange, also in Carytown, focuses on artisan interior decorating.
