Personal injury and medical malpractice are proven plays for this 100-year-old law firm. Venerable though it may be, the Richmond-based firm is a heavy television advertiser and shows its tech savvy by offering QR code apps on its website to lure clients who have been injured by dog bites, overturned tractor trailers, boat wrecks, breathing asbestos or careless doctors. Most clients come through referrals, and the firm’s 25 lawyers — spread among eight offices, including Petersburg and Charlottesville — have a knack for getting results. “What makes Allen stand out is that it is the state’s oldest and largest personal injury firm,” partner Jason Konvicka says. Runners-up lawyers Cooley and Chucker — who also has a following as a singer and songwriter with the Bart Chucker Band — specialize in other areas, namely criminal defense and traffic and drunk driving law, respectively. But Allen has them on longevity. Founded in 1910 by a father and his three sons, the firm welcomed its fourth generation Allen this past year.
