If there’s one group of architects that’s gone to the mat for modernism in building design, it’s SMBW. The firm replaced City Hall’s crumbling marble facade and wrapped it with a silver sheen of metal. The Manchester-based firm designed the Luck Stone corporate complex and was associate architect of the recent Virginia Museum of Fine Arts expansion.
