There’s good reason why Gallery5 aces this category year after year: It’s many things to many people. Plenty of up-and-coming visual artists got their first real show at G5. When it comes to music, curator Nick Crider is as likely to give a band its break as he is to use his connections to pull in a rising band such as the all-girl Potty Mouth or a heavy hitter such as Trioscapes. With comedy, burlesque, film and donation-based yoga on Sundays, Gallery5 is practically a one-stop arts shop for the masses. Just across Broad Street — at least until the new Quirk boutique hotel opens — sits Quirk Gallery, home to art shows and an eclectic array of jewelry, gifts and cards. With more than 200 studios on premises, Crossroads affords visitors the chance to observe artists at work.
