Strange’s Florist was started way back in the early 1930s by Gideon A. Strange, a U.S. Postal Service employee with a green thumb who began raising flowers and plants in his own yard at 3223 Dill Ave.. Flash-forward nearly a century, and the business is now owned by the Golden family but still going strong. It specializes in floral arrangements, greenhouse plants, garden center goods and nursery trees.
“We are currently putting together some new chic and modern floral arrangement collections and we’re sharing a new arrangement from these collections every week,” says Mikaela Rice, digital marketing and content specialist.
Their website can help out if you’re shopping for a special occasion: There are headings that include weddings, Mother’s Day, prom and homecoming and gift baskets.
It is open every day of the week, on Mondays through Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You can also learn tips on such things as maintaining houseplant humidity, floral arrangement care, dahlia planting, hot peppers and how to grow them and more on the website’s blog.
