Chances are it was the Red Bull-glazed doughnuts that Sugar Shack had a while back. Or perhaps readers never really forgot the banana split doughnuts. “We offer flavors I’ve never seen anywhere before, and they’re all so great,” says cake decorator Jessie Walker, who says she loves her job every single day. She’s sure the Shack also wins fans with its rotating free doughnut promotion: “You [can] bring in a record and get a free doughnut. Or beat us in rock, paper, scissors and get a free doughnut. Hundreds of people show up when it’s an easy one.” Doughnut-lovers have three words to say about Country Style Donuts: open 24 hours. And Krispy Kreme, known for the siren song of its “Hot Doughnuts” sign, recently celebrated its grand reopening on Broad Street.
