If Cater 2 Events has a farm-to-table feel, it’s not surprising. Owner Lona Crittenden got her start organizing and cooking for events on her Goochland farm about 15 years ago. “People just said: ‘Can you do this? Can you do that?’” she says, and it grew from there. It re-branded this past year. “I didn’t know what that meant,” Crittenden says, laughing. But she hired a former personal assistant of Harrison Ford’s from California to spearhead the new logo and professional presentation of the growing business. The priority remains the food, like its signature item, the sweet potato biscuit. “You eat with your eyes first,” Crittenden says. “And I pretty much do everything homemade, from scratch.”
