Behind the Photo: Maymont Goose

Years ago in journalism school we could photograph almost anything except ducks. Too easy. So for years I’ve avoided waterfowls for fear of ridicule from other photographers.

But I couldn’t resist this goose in the Japanese Garden at Maymont. The perfect plumage and soft water ripple caught my eye. I lifted my iPhone overhead and hoped for the best.

This angle is unique so I imagine I’ll get little grief from the photography community.
