The RVA Earth Day Festival last weekend turned Manchester from brick and mortar to a wonderland. The event got an extra spark from the No BS Brass band, which wove its way from the RVA Street Art Festival and through the narrow streets, followed by Richmonders of all ages dressed as puppets or simply waving banners and flags. Festival goers seemed in awe of the New Orleans style of an impromptu parade.
The beauty of it was that anyone could join in and march along. In this image, the narrow streets are filled with color that contrasts against the weathered red brick. The look of joy on bandleader Lance Koehler’s face perfectly sums up the event.
