A recent visit to the Four Seasons in Palm Beach confirmed that many families flock to this tourist destination during the summer. The resort’s heated oceanfront pool was a focal point for the kids. Pool attendants always were on hand to meet their needs. If the child didn’t bring a float from home, a loaner was secured and tossed into the pool. If they got too warm in the Florida sun, attendants were on hand with chilled face cloths and Evian facial spritzs.
I found the Four Seasons to be extremely kid friendly. Its complimentary year-round “Kids For All Seasons” children’s activity program features toys on arrival and cookies and milk at turndown. Children between the ages of 3 and 12 can participate in creative activities that test their imagination. On Friday and Saturday nights, the Kids Dinner Club is open from 6 to 9 p.m., featuring dinner and a themed activity. The resort also offers a well-equipped game room, complete with pool table, large screen television and a Microsoft Xbox game system — something for kids of all ages.
Last December the resort featured “Come Be A Star!” an interactive children’s program featuring opportunities for kids to cut their own CDs, participate in “play shop” activities, learn to juggle and more. At the end of the week, the kid’s showcased their newly acquired superstar stills in the “Super Star New Year’s Eve Show.”
The Four Seasons isn’t the only resort to offer programs for children. Several of Palm Beach County’s leading hotels offer “kids camp” activities while off-season rates prevail. Some are listed below:
The Breakers in Palm Beach recently launched its Family Entertainment Center, a 6,000-square foot self-contained multiplex of activities, featuring a glass-enclosed toddlers room; an arcade with 20 games, a playroom and craft area; a movie room, computer and Xbox room all adjacent to their new family friendly Italian Restaurant. The resort also offers Coconut Crew Interactive Camp for tennis, golf, arts and crafts, lawn hockey, swimming and creativity building games.
At The Boca Raton Resort & Club guests ages 3 through 17 can participate in educational and fun-filled programs at Camp Boca, including “Ocean Motion,” “Florida Flora and Fauna” and “Teen-Only Cruises.” Camp Boca plans more than 300 activities and events.
During the summer, the PGA National Resort & Spa offers a Summer Junior Golf Program, which includes a two-week golf instruction session, tournaments and golf play.
The Ritz Kids is The Ritz-Carlton, Palm Beach’s answer to a leisure holiday for children ages 5 to 12. The Ritz Kids Day Camp offers supervised activities for sports, games, arts and crafts, swimming pool play and nature tours. On Friday and Saturday evenings children can get away for a night of fun and excitement with Kids Night Out, while parents enjoy an intimate dinner. FS
