The 13th Richmond Theatre Critics Circle Awards, colloquially
known as the Artsies, was held virtually this year with an apt “Lucky 13” theme.
Big winners from this season, which was cut short due to the pandemic, included TheatreLab, which swept with 10 awards, many of them for its production of the musical, “Urinetown,” and Virginia Repertory Theatre, which won four awards for “A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.” Virginia Rep also received a special award for Excellence in Children’s Theatre.
This event is the primary fundraising means for the Theatre Artist Fund of Greater Richmond, which provides financial assistance to theater artists in need.
