I don’t trust anybody who doesn’t like the sound of a pedal steel. That’s because of Slim Stanton, the pedal steel guitar player for Andy Vaughan and the Driveline. He’ll be channeling the beer-and-a-shot-spirit of Richmond’s late great honky-tonk, Shenanigans, on Saturday, July 5, at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery. He and his band are celebrating the release of their new CD, “Sinners and Saints.” The group’s music is simple: straight-up, no-nonsense county music in the classic vein of Merle Haggard, George Jones and Waylon Jennings. It’s difficult to imagine a more perfect band to play a brewery the Saturday after July Fourth. The sweet sounds begin at 5 p.m. with an opening set by the Asheville, N.C.-based, female string band trio Locus Honey. Free. hardywood.com.
