What’s it like to be a teen-ager growing up in America today? Brace yourself for another heavy dose of reality television next week when “American High” debuts on FOX-TV.
Debuting Aug. 2 with back-to-back episodes at 9 and 9:30 p.m., “American High” is from Academy Award-nominated filmmaker R. J. Cutler (“The War Room,” “A Perfect Candidate”). The documentary was taped at a Chicago-area school this past school year and follows a group of real students as they deal with life at home and at school.
Cutler shot for 10 months, but it’s not just his images that will be seen. The show also features “video diaries” shot by the students themselves, offering an insider’s view of the problems and pitfalls, the joys and elation of coming of age.
