After Canceled Shows, Subscribers Get Reprieve

Broadway Under the Stars subscribers, their theater season cut short, are worrying about whether they’ll get refunds. But there may be some local relief.

Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV are offering those subscribers complimentary tickets to shows at the Barksdale Theatre at Willow Lawn, the Barksdale Theatre at Hanover Tavern, or Theatre IV at the Empire Theatre.

Bruce Miller, artistic director of Barksdale and Theatre IV, said in a release that he felt a responsibility to the local theater audience and wanted to help.

So his theaters are offering one free ticket per Broadway Under the Stars subscription. Shows include “Brooklyn Boy,” “Into the Woods,” “The Odd Couple,” “The Wizard of Oz” and “Disney’s High School Musical.”

To get the free ticket, Broadway Under the Stars subscribers must bring proof of their subscription (in letter or ticket form) to Barksdale’s box office at 1601 Willow Lawn Drive, or to the Empire Theatre, 114 West Broad St. Or, they can go online to www.barksdalerichmond.org.
