A sensual experience? On a Saturday? In America? Seems more like something people do in countries with socialized medicine and, you know, silk shirts. But the scandalous Bohemians of the Richmond Moving Image Co-Op refuse to tantalize just one sense at a time by bringing The Italian Film and Food Festival back for its fourth year. Aided by the culinary burlesque of Mamma ‘Zu Ristorante, the festival massages the mind’s eye with four films. They vary in range from the philosophical road trip of “Ladri di Biciclette (Bicycle Thief)” to Lina Wertmüller’s black comedy “Pasqualino Settebelliezze (Seven Beauties)” to the comedic tale of incest, arson and poverty in a big family, “Brutti, Sporchi e Cattivi (Down and Dirty).” To think that some of these films were up for Oscars, what with all the bosoms and existentialism. When, oh when, will this country have a bake sale again? The festival comes to the too-intimate Firehouse Theatre Project Feb. 3, starting at 10 a.m. Tickets are $12-$35.
