Shawn Minter, co-owner of Shockoe Whiskey & Wine and Loft 17 will open a new spot with Tamica Epps, Shockoe Steakhouse, at 14 N. 18th St., in January.
“We want to bring a premier steakhouse to the Shockoe Bottom area,” Minter says. “[There’s] Morton’s, but none in the immediate area. That’s the void we’re trying to fill.”
Diners can expect a comprehensive array of beef cuts, plus New Zealand lamb chops and seafood, including lobster. Tastings and wine pairings are also planned.
Minter is especially excited about the patio behind the restaurant, which is shared with Loft 17. There are plans for a fire pit and heaters to accommodate winter dining as well. “We want to do patio dinners, provide a place for cigars and do private events outside too,” he says.
The restaurant is in the planning stages for now. Check back here for more details as Shockoe Steakhouse gets closer to opening.
CORRECTION: Tamica Epps, also a co-owner of Shockoe Steakhouse, Shockoe Whiskey & Wine and Loft 17 was left out of the story when it first published. We regret the error. >/p>
