The Score

Posted on Tue, May 5, 2015 at 1:00 AM

+2 Richmond’s “American Idol” finalist Rayvon Owen makes a hometown visit trailed by cameras to air on the Fox show this week. Former “Idol” finalist Elliott Yamin was also on hand to congratulate Rayvon and invest in his burgeoning fedora empire.

+3 The ¿Qué Pasa? Festival of Virginia draws crowds to the Canal Walk for a celebration of the local Latino community. And the answer to that extra question mark? Yes. Always, yes.

-3 Thousands of pieces of mail headed to local addresses ended up trashed, 8 News reports, dumped by two postal carriers who admitted throwing it away. If our Pottery Barn catalog was found next to a rotten banana peel, someone will have some serious explaining to do!

+1 May ushers in Bike Month, with the Sports Backers’ Bike Walk RVA coordinating celebrations such events as kid parades, group commutes and activities at Dominion Riverrock. Now if only we could get the mayor and City Council on one of those bicycles built for two.

+4 Seniors at local colleges and universities wrap up their final days of exams and last-minute job-hunting with commencement ceremonies on the horizon. Ahhh, the rites of young adulthood! Graduating college and moving back in with Mom.
