The Score

Posted on Tue, Mar 4, 2014 at 11:41 AM

-4 The week begins with yet another snowstorm, with the Virginia State Police spending the morning responding to 322 crashes, 53 disabled vehicles — and three sleep-deprived television meteorologists suffering from green-screen overdose.

-6 The University of Richmond announces that a search for a new president will begin in the next academic year, with Ed Ayers stepping down to join the faculty. Wait till he finds out how long he has to wait for a masseuse in the teachers' lounge.

+2 The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus draws thousands of parents to the Richmond Coliseum with children in tow. But they must cover the kids' eyes when they discover the third ring is a City Council debate on baseball in Shockoe Bottom.

+1 The UCI Road World Championships unveils the routes for its 2015 bike race in Richmond, describing the challenge of one 10.3-mile city course as "cobbled and technical." Add in the potholes and you have an Olympic sport.

+3 Chef Kevin Roberts comes to the rescue of Perly's, saying he'll revive the more than 50-year-old restaurant that closed abruptly in September. What he wasn't counting on was having to compete with Taco Bell's new breakfast.
