The Score

A weekly rating of the city zeitgeist.

Posted on Tue, Oct 25, 2011 at 1:35 PM

+5 Nearly 100 supporters of Special Olympics Virginia raise more than $90,000 by rappelling almost 30 stories from the roof of the SunTrust building downtown. Yet not one person bothered to clean the windows on the way down.

+7 A combination of light displays, live action, video installations and mixed media combine for the dazzling art exhibit InLight along the Richmond riverfront. It was clear several artists had light-bulb moments.

+2 In a tent city set up at Kanawha Plaza, Occupy Richmond enters its second week and announces an address to which donations may be sent. And thank you for the offer but please, they’ve received enough granola already.

-3 Drivers on Interstate 95 face a weekend of traffic rerouting while construction work continues on the bridge at Laburnum Avenue. Even the trolls were backed up.

+1 Production on Spielberg’s Lincoln movie shifts into downtown for a bit, bringing Hollywood to Capitol Square. Although Gov. Bob McDonnell’s hair has always been ready for the big time.
