The Score

A weekly rating of the city zeitgeist.

Posted on Wed, Jun 30, 2010 at 4:00 AM

0 Miss Greater Richmond, Caitlin Uze, wins the title of Miss Virginia at the pageant in Roanoke. And we couldn't be prouder. Of the Arlington native. Who graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg. And doesn't live here. Oh Richmond, must we outsource our beauty queens too?

+3 At the Apple store in Short Pump Town Center, iPhone fanatics stand in long lines to snatch up the newest version of the gadget. Unfortunately, when it comes to making geeks cooler, there's still no app for that.

-2 The Times-Dispatch reports on a three-woman fight in the East End that includes bleach being splashed in one of the women's faces. The good news is, she was treated at the scene and found to be 99.9 percent bacteria free.

+5 Parenting magazine names Richmond as the healthiest city for families in America. Finally, all this second-hand smoke pays off!

-4 We break a heat record in Richmond. To get some relief from the high temperatures, we plan to spend Fourth of July holding sparklers under our armpits.
