The Score

A weekly rating of the city zeitgeist.

-5 Did you hear the one about Justin French? Neither did we. Because we had to slip away before hitting the back nine at the country club this weekend.

+7 Thousands of music lovers turn out for the first Richmond Jazz Festival over the weekend at Maymont. Thankfully, no bears were harmed, but some cool cats were feeling the pain Monday.

+2 WTVR-TV 6 becomes the second local affiliate to broadcast its newscasts in high definition, and the first to go hi-def in the field. Shockingly, this reveals that on-camera hottie Sam Brock is not an android -- but actually a 2,000-year-old medieval wizard named Samdaufus Brocksaldore.

+3 The Associated Press reports that Virginia's oyster sales hit a record high last year, though clam sales were down. We don't know what to make about all that, but let's just say we know somebody who got so high last week they achieved a personal best on them cheddar bay biscuits at Red Lobster.

+2 The University of Richmond gets ready to welcome its freshmen to campus for orientation weekend. Red Lobster reports a surge in sales of cheddar bay biscuits.
