The Score

Posted on Wed, Aug 6, 2008 at 4:00 AM

+5  The buzz gets out of control: Two Virginians - Gov. Tim Kaine for Obama, Rep. Eric Cantor for McCain - become rumored finalists as potential vice presidential candidates. Just think: Either one of them could join such famous company as Schuyler Colfax, William Rufus de Vane King and Garret Augustus Hobart!

-4  Only nine months into her job as Richmond's chief administrative officer, the much-heralded Sheila Hill-Christian suddenly resigns with little explanation. The real shock is that even Harry Black outlasted her.

+1  Ten young protestors agree to serve at least 200 hours of community service, the T-D reports, for tying up traffic in protest of Dominion Virginia Power's attempt to build a coal-fired power plant in Wise County. It's a sorry state of kid protestors today when you can't even get jail time.

+3  Officials at Randolph-Macon College get all fired up after the Princeton Review ranks R-MC as the No. 6 party school in the country. They would have been No. 5, but they recently hired Neidermeyer as adjunct faculty.

-2  A 22-year-old sheriff's deputy in Chesterfield County resigns after firing a shotgun while intoxicated into the ground at his Chester home, the T-D reports. Police were clued in on exactly how intoxicated the deputy was after he told them he was actually aiming for the sky.
