How does Richmond rank as a college town when it comes to costs?

Not too badly, according to a new survey by WalletHub, an online ratings outlet.

Among midsize cities, Richmond ranked No. 18, just below Lincoln, Nebraska, and above Knoxville.

Variables that WalletHub used to makes its determinations include the cost of two-bedroom apartments, tuition costs at local colleges and the price of junk food, such as cheeseburgers.

Pittsburgh was found to be No. 1 in large cities, beating out college-saturated Boston, which came in at No. 18. Best middle-sized college town is Gainesville, Florida, and Ann Arbor in Michigan is the best small college town.
