For almost two decades, 311 hasn't had much incentive to stray far from its standard fare of alt rock, reggae and funk. While its heyday may have been during the early '90s (thanks to radio hits such as “Down,” “All Mixed Up” and “Amber”) the fans the band acquired hardly have moved on (change is quite difficult for stoners). Since the 2005 full length, “Don't Tread on Me,” it might even be safe to say that the group's audience has strengthened in number, as evident by 311's latest record “Uplifter,” debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, 311's apex to date. Fusing plenty of heavy chords, rap-rock wordplay and sunny dub grooves, 311 is set to play the National on Sunday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. $45.
