One of the best ways to learn about a culture is through its art. Take the fifth annual Israeli Film Festival, happening Thursday to Sunday, Jan. 8-11, at the Weinstein Jewish Community Center. A street art demonstration kicks things off Thursday at 6:15 p.m., followed by the 7 o’clock screening of award-winning director Avi Nesher’s 2013 comedic mystery, “The Wonders.” Saturday brings a discussion with Isaac Zablocki, director of the Israel Film Center at the Manhattan Jewish Community Center, following the 7 p.m. showing of the 2013 Yuval Adler-directed dramatic thriller, “Bethlehem.” The festival closes Sunday with screenings of the comedic films “Hunting Elephants” at 10 a.m. and “Magic Men” at 1:30 p.m. For ticket prices and a full schedule of events, call 285-6500 or visit weinsteinjcc.org.
