Like our mom, without the Earth we wouldn’t exist. First celebrated in 1970, Earth Day is marked in Richmond with a variety of events, including the fifth anniversary of Style Weekly’s RVA Earth Day Festival. The event in Manchester has expanded from Plant Zero to the riverside and Mayo Island, and features a full day of music including Three Sheets to the Wind, Black Girls and DJ Williams Projekt, among others. Along with the music you’ll find a litany of environmental attractions, exhibitions, demonstrations and family-friendly activities to help alleviate the strain of supporting life on the Earth. Plus, there are food trucks and beer — with every local brew represented — from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The day also is marked by activities at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market from 11-7, featuring live performances by the Richmond Youth Guild, My Darling Fury and Goldrush. It’s happening Saturday, April 26. For a full schedule for each event, go to RVAearthdayfest.org and earthdayrichmond.org, respectively.
