100 Years of Interpretive Dance

Colombian Gabriel Garcia Marquez is one of those writers who make you go, “Where does that come from?” when absorbing his stories off the page, he gives us a kind of mythology rendered in the most concrete and most poetic of ways. In a way, that inspiration comes from Macondo, the fictional village that is home to his most successful book, “100 Years of Solitude.” Latin Ballet of Virginia director Ana Ines King has translated the book into a performance interpretation of the characters and their journey through reality and fantasy and 100 years in the life of a family. “Macondo” comes to the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen Friday through Sunday, Oct. 27-29, with 8 p.m. shows and 3 p.m. weekend matinees. Tickets are $15-$20. Call 379-2555 or visit www.latinballet.com. S
