Zombies eat your flesh in Glen Allen

There's no getting around it. Zombies. Are. Awesome. There's just something about the shuffling, brain-consuming corpses that equates to great entertainment. Whether for legitimate scares (“Night of the Living Dead”), comedic parody (“Shaun of the Dead”) or innovative fun (“Pride and Prejudice and Zombies”), the undead never stay buried in pop culture for very long. Celebrating the latest addition to the genre with the motion picture “Zombieland,” (pictured) Regal Virginia Center Stadium 20 plays host to an evening of ghoul-themed activities leading up to a midnight showing of the film. Beginning with a hearse procession led by two original zombie extras from George A. Romero's “Dawn of the Dead” and continuing with a costume contest, blood drive and visit by “Reign of the Dead” zombie novelist Len Barhart, Richmond's microapocalypse starts at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 1. 10091 Jeb Stuart Parkway, Glen Allen. 261-4994. — Mike Hilleary
