Yonder Mountain String Band at Innsbrook After Hour

Yonder Mountain String Band, even for a bluegrass-glutted town like ours, carries some special old-time weight. But then, the band plays festivals, big ones, bringing its Appalachian, string-driven jams to audiences that generally enjoy cramming into big fields for that sort of thing. And even with traditional bluegrass staples — the mandolin, bass and banjo — Yonder has created music that is rightfully its own. The band is touring with sometime-folkie, sometime-rocker Martin Sexton, who brings a real blue-eyed soul to the already sort-of blue-eyed Prince number “Purple Rain.” They all play on Wednesday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Innsbrook After Hours. $15-$20. 423-6589, www.innsbrookafterhours.com.
