WRIR's 7th Birthday Bash

Friday, Feb. 3

It’s difficult to believe that Richmond’s only independent radio station, WRIR-FM 97.3, hit the airwaves seven years ago. In that time the station has become a steady force in supporting local artists and musicians and helps to bring a variety of music to Richmond ears. The only way to celebrate the occasion properly is with a big party with music, fun and, of course, cake. The evening will feature music performances from White Laces, the Janet Martin Band, Baby Help Me Forget, the Richmond Youth Jazz Guild, the Gamelan Raga Kusuma Ensemble, Josh Bearman and Alison Self, Black Liquid, Ms. Proper and Ohbliv. Also on hand: the Richmond Comedy Coalition, Secretly Y’all Storytelling, Vaudeville Galore Burlesque, Turnstyle Soundsystem and DJ Glycenide. WRIR celebrates another year of aural bliss on Friday, Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Richmond Renaissance ballroom. $10. wrir.org.
