Richmond’s only independent radio station, WRIR-FM 97.3, kicks off its annual fund drive this weekend. Contributing to a majority of the station’s revenue, the campaign — which runs Sept. 16-25 — allows for the variety of programming WRIR offers the community. This year the station will release “Live at WRIR Vol. 1,” a compilation of exclusive, in-studio performances by international and local artists from the past six years. To celebrate, the station will hold a party at Bogart’s in the Fan featuring live performances from Ms. Proper, Pedals on Our Pirate Ships, Peace Beast, Moossa and Splork. WRIR’s CD release party takes place at Bogart’s on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m. $5 donation to WRIR. 622-9747.
