Richmond’s only independent radio station, WRIR-FM 97.3, hit the airwaves eight years ago. Since then, it’s become a steady force supporting local artists and musicians, while helping to bring a unique variety of music to Richmond ears. To celebrate, WRIR throws its biggest and most widely attended event of the year, featuring music performances from Wolf//Goat, Canary Oh Canary, Samson Trinh and the Upper East Side Big Band and Dead Fame. Other entertainment comes from the Listening Room, Secretly Y’all Storytelling, the Cheats Movement, Colloquial Orchestra and the Richmond Comedy Coalition. WRIR celebrates another year of aural bliss Friday, Feb. 1, at 7 p.m., at the Richmond Renaissance Ballroom. $10. wrir.org.
